Event - Communicating Strategy

Delegates will learn the importance of communicating their strategy to stakeholders in a way that engages those needing to be mobilised for the strategy to succeed.
Purpose
The workshop will help delegates to learn how to put together a “compelling story” that explains the strategy in a way that encourages people to commit to it.
Background
One of the hallmarks of successful leaders from all walks of life - politics, business and charity, is the ability to tell a story that simply conveys their strategy but in a way that makes the people who hear it want to be part of the change.
Whether one thinks of Jack Welch, Gandhi, Churchill or Bob Geldof, central to their success was an approach that got under people’s skin and moved them to take part in a strategy to create something new and different.
They were seeking peoples’ commitment not their compliance. There’s a huge difference and the consequences in terms of resistance to change are enormous.
There is no doubt that without the ability to tell a story that engaged at an emotional level, these leaders would have failed.
Yet so many leaders in organisations fail to give this vital area their complete attention, in striking contrast to those named above.
This workshop is designed to help people understand the main attributes of a successful and moving story.
Participants and Benefits
This workshop will help anyone who is trying to make a change in any organisation. Whether you are a CEO or a first line manager, this workshop will help you to construct your story. At the end of the workshop participants will:

- Understand the process people go through when confronted with a change initiative
- Have the chance to try their story on a friendly audience and get honest feedback
- Build the foundations of their story
